André Ayew, also known as Dede Ayew, is a French-born Ghanaian professional footballer. In 2011, he was named the BBC African Footballer of the Year, and Ghanaian Footballer of the Year. He began his playing career in Ghana.
André is the son of Maha and professional footballer Abedi “Pele” Ayew. His father was three-time African Footballer of the Year. His half-brother, Ibrahim Ayew, and brother, Jordan Ayew, also are professional footballers, as are his uncles Kwame Ayew and Sola Ayew.
André is a Muslim.
André’s maternal grandfather was named Alhaji Abdul Aziz Khaldi. Alhaji was a Lebanese Muslim.
